Developed in partnership with the UK’s number one Biltong producer, Biltong Boss, this is a mind-blowing snack that is full of traditional flavours, as well as your truffle fix! It is also high in protein.
So what is Biltong? Biltong is thinly sliced dried, cured beef, typically originating in Southern African countries like Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa. It is salted and dried beef, flavoured with vinegar, spices, pepper, cloves and coriander. And ours has an incredible, balanced truffle flavour to round it all off!
As for the word ‘biltong’ – it can be broken down into two parts:
- “Bil” – the Dutch word for rump or buttock
- “Tong” – the word for tongue (although it’s not made from Tongue!!!) due to its appearance before slicing.
It is made with far fewer preservatives and less artificial flavours than the more familiar Jerky. Traditional biltong is also much thicker than beef jerky.
Truffle Biltong Ingredients:
Silverside Beef 200g per 100g dry air cured biltong. Seasoning Mix: salt, spices (coriander, black pepper) caster sugar, flavour (contains yeast extract, salt, maltodextrin, caramelised sugar, sunflower oil, flavourings (process flavourings, natural flavourings), cider vinegar, black truffle 70%, extra virgin olive oil, olive oil, natural flavouring. Preservative (Potassium Sorbate).
