Description

Trout Roe – Oncorhynchus mykiss

Buy Trout Roe from Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), sustainably sourced in Denmark. Its vibrant orange-red eggs offer a delicate texture and a fresh, balanced flavour.

Trout Roe has medium-sized eggs of approximately 4–5mm with a relatively thin shell. As a result, each egg provides a delicate pop before releasing its flavour.

Compared with salmon roe, this roe has smaller eggs and a milder character. Therefore, it works particularly well when you want the colour and texture of roe without overpowering the dish.

How Does Trout Roe Taste?

Our Trout Roe has a fresh, delicately briny flavour with subtle nutty notes and gentle sweetness. A smooth, buttery finish provides balance.

The flavour is milder and less salty than many larger roes. In addition, its delicate shell creates a pleasing burst of flavour as the eggs pop on the palate.

This balance makes the roe particularly versatile. You can enjoy it simply as a garnish or use it to add flavour, colour and texture to finished dishes.

Sustainably Sourced in Denmark

Our Trout Roe comes from Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) raised in Denmark.

Producers carefully select the roe for its quality, colour, texture and flavour. They then pack it under temperature-controlled conditions to protect its freshness.

Once received, we keep the roe refrigerated until dispatch. Finally, we send your order chilled in our double-insulated thermal packaging with ice packs. This helps maintain the cold chain until it reaches you.

How to Serve Trout Roe

Serve Trout Roe well chilled and add it just before serving.

For a classic combination, spoon it over mini blinis with crème fraîche. Its fresh flavour and vibrant colour also work beautifully with scallop carpaccio, fresh salmon, scrambled eggs and soft-boiled eggs.

Alternatively, spoon the roe over warm buttered potatoes or use it to finish seafood dishes. It also makes an attractive garnish for canapés, sushi and sashimi.

Because its flavour is relatively mild, Trout Roe works particularly well when you want the roe to complement rather than dominate the other ingredients.
