Description

Kaluga Caviar – Huso dauricus

Buy Kaluga Caviar from the roe of the Kaluga sturgeon (Huso dauricus). Caviar lovers prize Kaluga for its large pearls, satisfyingly firm texture and rich, buttery flavour.

Kaluga produces large, glossy pearls, ranging in colour from deep bronze through to platinum grey. The pearls are firm yet silky. As a result, they provide a distinctive gentle pop before releasing their smooth, creamy flavour.

How Does Kaluga Caviar Taste?

Our Kaluga Caviar has a rich, buttery and creamy flavour. Gentle salinity and subtle marine notes provide balance. Its clean flavour develops gradually on the palate and finishes smoothly.

In addition, the combination of large pearls, firm texture and balanced flavour makes Kaluga particularly versatile. It’s excellent enjoyed on its own, but equally at home with traditional caviar accompaniments.

Sustainably Farmed at Qiandao Lake, China

Our specialist producer farms Kaluga sturgeon at Qiandao Lake (Thousand Island Lake) in Zhejiang Province, China. This region is an internationally renowned centre for sturgeon aquaculture.

Caviar specialists carefully select each batch for the quality, size, texture and flavour of its pearls. The producer then packs and transports the caviar under strict temperature-controlled conditions.

Once received, we store each batch at approximately 2°C to protect its quality and freshness. Before dispatch, we hand pack and check every order.

Finally, we send your caviar chilled in our double-insulated thermal packaging with ice packs. This helps maintain the cold chain until it reaches you.

How to Serve Kaluga Caviar

For the purest experience, serve Kaluga Caviar well chilled. Enjoy it directly from the tin using a mother-of-pearl spoon.

Alternatively, serve it with simple accompaniments such as mini blinis, crème fraîche, eggs or warm buttered potatoes.

Its larger, firmer pearls also make Kaluga an excellent choice for canapés. In addition, it works particularly well as a finishing ingredient where the individual pearls remain clearly defined.

For drinks, Kaluga pairs particularly well with Champagne or well-chilled vodka.
